About the Workshop

At ACE Seniors, virtual befriending is an activity that allows us to communicate with and assure vulnerable seniors isolated in nursing homes that they are not alone in these challenging times.

Since 2020, ACE Seniors has digitised our volunteerism efforts, converting segments of our annual celebrations for nursing homes and community hospitals to virtual platforms.

Based on our past year’s success, we are pleased to offer a free virtual befriending workshop for volunteers. Our ‘Good Practices of a Virtual Befriender for Seniors’ workshop will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to conduct virtual befriending sessions.

Workshop Outcomes

1.    Understand how to deliver emotional support.
2.    Active listening with empathy.
3.    Conduct activities that are beneficial and engaging for seniors.
4.    Opportunity to work with our nursing home partners to conduct virtual befriending sessions.

The workshop is open to all ages and professions. As workshop slots are limited, priority is given to those who can commit to at least one virtual befriending session. Volunteers aged 55 and above are also strongly encouraged to attend the workshop!
